Day 2 of CRC @ Ft. Benning, Ga

Wow....what another boring day. Moving from one station to the next....FINANCE, ID CARD/ID TAGS, RECORD SCREENINGS, etc. The only cool thing I did today was draw my M9 and M16 (weapons). I got issued all of my cold weather gear and then some. The total worth of all of the gear I picked up today came out to the total of $3,000. Yeah, Im not gonna lose any of it. Hell no. Today was boring but at least after 4pm, we were basically released to do our own thing. So Im on the computer typing to you all. Day 2 is over and only 12 more to go till I leave for Afghanistan. I wish I was over there now at least I got something to do over there besides signing my signature and sitting/standing all day. I miss alot of you all already. But at the same time, I remember how much money Ill be making over there so it sooths the pain haha :) Well feel free to post any comments so I got something to read! lol Well, off to get some food.

Day 1 of CRC @ Ft. Benning, Ga

I got here around 10pm last night from Ft. Meade, Md. The flight from Baltimore to Atlanta, Ga wasnt bad at all. But man, oh man....did it SUCK from Atlanta to dinky ole Columbus, Ga. For starters, our flight was delayed almost 3 hrs. We were suppose to leave @ 545pm but instead didnt leave till 830pm. One of the bumpiest, loudest flights I have ever been on and Ive been on PLENTY of flights. Anywho, that was my story all day yesterday. I woke up @ 0530 this morning and everything went smooth for me. Took a shower, got dressed in uniform and went to chow. Had a semi-formation about 0700 to go to the clinic here on Benning. My whole day consist of SITTING and shaking my head yes and no. Oh, and I filled out paper work for my arm workout. Boring stuff let me tell you. So I just got done doing that about 45 min ago and its almost 3pm now. Yes, 7 FULL HOURS of boredom. From 6pm-9pm, we retrain up on the M16 A2 / M9 (weapons). I believe after that, we get to have some personal time. I might give a ring to my Mom just to let her know that Im ok and a select few of my friends. Other than that, Im hitting the shower then hitting the sack. This will complete my first day of CRC. Oh, I also found out I will be here for 2 weeks....ugh.

Last full day B4 the Deployment process begins...

November 27th, 2004. My last day here at Ft. Meade before I head to Ft. Benning, Ga to start my deployment process (moving from one location to another for short term in CIVILIAN terms). Heading out to lunch with my co-worker and my boss. Oh by the way, let me introduce myself. My name is SGT Ricardo Cortez (Ricky to most of you). Im stationed here at Ft. Meade, Md. Been here for a little over a year and been in the military for over 5 1/2 yrs. From here on out, this will be my personal diary from me to you on an everyday (or at least every other day) basis. I will talk about the very beginning of life in a deployment to the very end of one. I hopefully will prove to you that a deployment is not always all that bad in a Bachelor's life. Ive heard war stories, rumors etc. about deployments. Some are believable, some are just ridiculous. Well, only way to find out is to experience it right? Well after today, I will tell you my experiences from beginning to end.
